Host Protection
Your watches are valuable. Here's how OurWatch protects you as a host.
Client Verification
Before any client can rent a watch, they must complete our verification process:
- Identity verification — Government-issued photo ID validated through our KYC partner
- Payment verification — Valid payment method on file through Stripe with authorization holds
- Profile completion — Verified email, phone number, and delivery address
Security Deposits
You control the security deposit amount for each of your listings.
You Set the Amount
Set a deposit that reflects your watch's value. We recommend 20-50% of the watch's market value. The deposit is authorized on the client's payment method at booking time.
Automated Hold & Release
Deposits are held by Stripe (not OurWatch) for the duration of the rental. When you confirm the watch was returned in good condition, the hold is automatically released. You can flag issues within 48 hours of return.
Damage Claims
If your watch is returned with damage, open a dispute through the order detail page. Upload comparison photos (pre-rental vs post-rental). Our team reviews within 48 hours and can capture part or all of the security deposit on your behalf.
Booking Control
You maintain full control over who rents your watches:
- Approve or decline — Every booking request requires your approval before it's confirmed
- Set your terms — Daily rate, minimum/maximum rental days, and security deposit are all under your control
- Blackout dates — Block dates when your watch isn't available
- Delivery method — Choose between local pickup, shipping, or both
Payout Protection
Your earnings are processed securely through Stripe:
- Rental payments are captured when the rental begins
- Late fees are automatically applied based on your settings
- Payouts are deposited to your connected bank account
- Full transaction history available in your dashboard
Watch Authentication
All watches listed on OurWatch go through authentication to protect both hosts and clients. This process verifies the watch's authenticity and documents its condition before each rental, creating a baseline for any damage claims.
